Fav’s

This is a list of my favorite things about running! I will keep updating this page as my favorite things change over time.

Post-run snack: Pancakes (sans syrup), or a 2 egg-omelet (Julia Child-style).

Running outfit: Cotton spandex capris. It’s a must, really.

Time of day to run: Morning, before work (if I am able to drag myself out of bed) & early evening in the summer. Night runs in Boston are also gorgeous – there is nothing more beautiful than seeing the city lights at the end of a long run.

Running location: Charles River ! There are always a ton of runners/bikers out at any time of day to keep you motivated, and a great view of the city complete with sail boats. Great people-watching.

Road Race: Boston Run to Remember Half Marathon (for it’s course layout & excellent organization); Smuttynose Half Marathon for it’s flat, easy course & time of year.

Gadget: Forerunner 305. Super nerdy, but well worth it.

Running Tune: “Percussion Gun” by the White Rabbits

Mantra: (to think while running) “Every moment is an opportunity for a fresh start.” & “The fastest way to get to the finish line is by running.”

Running Blogs/Websites: Tales of an Endless Runner, Between the Miles, Pigtails Flying, Amy’s Training, Runner’s World, Cool Running, Running Planet, Runner’s Lounge, When I Get a Little Run Run Run

Running Quotes:

“It’s very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit.” – George Sheehan

“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” – T.S. Eliot

“The miracle isn’t that I finished; it’s that I had the courage to start.” – John Bingham
